LSO Administrative Assistant

The Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra is seeking an Administrative Assistant for its office. The ideal candidate is a highly-organized self-starter who is detail-oriented and skilled in developing and maintaining relationships with our customers and patrons. This position has to work both independently and as a team member, depending on the day.

Specific skills that are required include:

  • familiarity and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • familiarity and proficiency with QuickBooks,
    database management and data extraction, and
  • familiarity with bookkeeping and internal accounting.

Other skills that are essential but not required before starting the position include experience with processing payment and credit card transactions, advanced knowledge and ability to manipulate data and tables in Excel, familiarity with nonprofit accounting (ability to book donations and distribute tax exemption letters), corporate maintenance with the Virginia State Corporation Commission, and ability to manage the organization’s dues, licensing and amusement taxes. Digital marketing experience is a plus.

This is a part-time position (12-20 hours per week) that works closely with the Executive Director, the Bookkeeper, the Auditors, and of course, the patrons and customers.
